Freestyle poem. Kagome's thoughts on Sesshoumaru
Although I was seemingly the cheerleader in the group,
I had no hope for myself
Love unrequited for a man who loved one dead
And stuck to carry out my honor to complete a sacred jewel
For years I struggled
For years I fought
For years I secretly loved
For years I secretly was broken
For years I meandered in my own dark abyss, but kept a cheerful façade
The day my friends and I completed the jewel, I cried
I knew I was no longer needed
I knew to the one I loved that he loved another
I knew I was no sister or brother to ones greatly affected by the same enemy
I knew I was no mother to an orphan who was not of the same species as I
With the jewel completed, the well prevented my return to my time
But instead, I received immortality as a reward
It was a reward I loathed greatly
I journeyed alone for years
Always helping something or someone, but never myself
Finally, I was stopped
A man, no… a demon with strength appeared
It had been many years since I had last seen him
I had seen when he was ruthless
I had seen when he had hated his own half sibling
I had seen when he had once given into his anger
I had seen when he had changed in the presence of a human child
He was unlike his half-brother I had followed
Still stoic after so many years
But he remained pristine, silver- haired, and amber- eyed
He understood my pain
He understood that I was not a copy
He understood that I only wanted to be loved
And somehow he taught me how to love
I began to have hope
As I had only known him to be so impartial to anything in life
But here he was
Though I eventually wished we had become lovers
I was content to know that he cared for me
And I will forever be content knowing that he was never cold
Just a demon that had known the truths that a former mortal like me had learned in such a short time.
