He knew what the Cardinal Lords thought, that he had somehow been trapped, honor not allowing him to leave her behind.
He knew what the other demons thought, that he suffered the same weakness as his father, the affinity for humans tainting his blood.
He knew what the humans thought, that he owned her, she was nothing but a demon’s pet.
He also knew the truth.
She wasn’t with him because of his honor or his blood.
She knew she was free to leave whenever she pleased.
She stayed, happily keeping him free from the loneliness that once consumed him.
