Kagome Higurashi walked down the dark alleyway shivering as another blast of cold air hit her. She had just gotten off work and she knew Hojo wasn’t going to be happy with her for being late. Kagome and Hojo had started dating their junior year in high school, Hojo had become the youngest owner of a chain of clubs in downtown Tokyo, When they first got together Hojo seemed like the perfect boyfriend. But lately he had turned into a monster, They fought constantly and as of late, Hojo had started using Violence. Kagome had only 3 friends, Inuyasha, A young Hanyou who had recently become a well-known model for a clothing company in Tokyo, Sango and Miroku. Both had become Inuyasha’s agents. Hojo had forbid Kagome to ever see them again, so it had been almost two years since she laid eyes on her friends.

Kagome rounded the corner and her Miko senses picked up another scent, She wasn’t alone. Kagome let out a sigh and she pulled her jacket around her. She wasn’t afraid, not of the stalker at least. She more afraid of what Hojo was going to do when she got home. Before Kagome had a chance to react, She was pushed into the alley wall and her clothing was ripped in order to reveal her neck. The stalker held Kagome to him and he sank his canines into her neck. Kagome let out a whimper as pain coursed through her, As the stalker drank from her, Kagome slowly began to go limp. She was let go and she fell to the ground. As her stalker walked off, Kagome somehow found the strength to stand. She pulled her jacket closed and she buttoned it. By the time she returned home it was well after midnight. The light coming from inside told her Hojo had waited up for her. Kagome closed her eyes and she began to mentally prepare herself for what she was about to go through. The moment Kagome walked through the Door Hojo went into a rant, "Where the Hell have you been? I had clients from work waiting here for your arrival, I had to make excuses for you Kagome."

Kagome sighed and she stood in front of Hojo not saying a word, it was better if she didn’t get hit, Maybe she could get through the night without any more bruises to add to the old that covered her body. Hojo grabbed her arm and he roughly pulled her to him, "Answer me Wench…. ANSWER ME!" Kagome opened her eyes and she spoke calmly, "I got held up at work. Hojo shoved her back and he let out a laugh, "I’m sorry Hojo ill make sure it won’t happen again." Hojo shook his head and he began to undo his belt, he held it in his hand, "no your not sorry, But you will be once I’m through." He raised his hand and Kagome took off into a dead run up the stairs. If she could get to her room in time and lock the door, She would be safe for the night. Kagome made it halfway up the stairs before Hojo made it to her. He grabbed her foot and he yanked, Kagome fell face first into the stairs and she was pulled down. She refused to scream and cry as Hojo repeatedly hit her. When he was through he left Kagome on the stairs and he went to his office. He had gotten carried away, Kagome was bleeding from her mouth and from a cut on her forehead, One of her eyes were swollen shut and now countless whelps covered her body. She couldn’t stay, There was only one place she could go.

Kagome stumbled through the streets until she found the right one, her eyes fell upon the Manor in front of her. Sango and Miroku had been married for a year and they now lived here. Kagome stumbled up the steps and she fell into the door. Sango heard the noise and she opened the door, She raised an eyebrow and she went to walk back in, "Sango…" Sango looked down and she gasped, "Miroku!" Sango knelt down in front of Kagome and she began to cry when she saw the state her friend was in, "I had no where else to go…I was attacked...and bitten." Kagome finally passed out as Miroku ran into view. He knelt down and he gently picked Kagome up. He took her into their bedroom and he laid her on the bed. Sango tended to Kagome while Miroku grabbed his keys and he left. He did not stop driving until he reached Inuyasha’s manor across town. He ran up to the door and he began to bang on it as loud as he could.

Inuyasha had fallen asleep in front of the t.v. He was pulled from his dream about Kagome and he slowly walked to the door. He opened it and he frowned. "Miroku its 2:30 in the morning what…." Miroku interrupted him, "I found Kagome!" Inuyasha was suddenly wide-awake, "where is she…" Miroku let out a sigh and he leaned into the Doorframe, "she is at the manor with Sango, She was attacked by a vampire and she was bitten." Inuyasha let out a Sigh and he put his head down, "has she turned yet?" Miroku shook his head and he sighed, Vampires had been discovered not to long ago, Afterwards many young women had been attacked at night, Now The woman Inuyasha loved more than his very life had fallen as their prey. The ride to Miroku’s manor was silent. As soon as they arrived Inuyasha tried to prepare himself. But nothing could prepare him when he saw Kagome, She had been cleaned up but the whelps that covered her were still bad looking, her face was so bruised Inuyasha could barely recognize her. He sat on the edge of the bed and he took her hand in his, When Kagome opened her eyes, Inuyasha burst into tears, Kagome smiled as tears filled her eyes, She pulled Inuyasha down to her and she held him tightly. When she finally pulled back, Inuyasha tried to speak, "w…who did this to you Kagome?"

Kagome let out a whimper as she spoke, "I was attacked while walking home…Hojo doesn’t like for me to be late…he punished me." Kagome slid back into a deep sleep. Inuyasha growled but he remained by Kagome’s side. When Sango came into the room at Dawn, Inuyasha had fallen asleep in the chair by the bed. Kagome was sitting up and she smiled at Sango. Her eyes were slowly beginning to change color, Sango frowned and she sat next to Kagome, "How are you feeling?" Kagome smiled softly, "Better I think…Sango I need to go back and get some things.." Inuyasha opened his eyes and he smiled, "I will go with you." A few minutes later Inuyasha helped Kagome down the stairs and out to Miroku’s car. The drive to Hojo’s manor was silent, as they pulled into the driveway Kagome frowned when She saw Hojo waiting outside. Inuyasha chose to stay in the care while Kagome went up to Hojo.

"Where the FUCK have you been?" Kagome said nothing, she walked into the house and up the stairs, "I went to a friends house and I’m going back, you want to know why because I cant take your shit any more Hojo." Kagome pulled a bag out and she began to throw clothes into it. Hojo grabbed Kagome by the arm and he backhanded her hard enough to send her across the room. As he moved to grab her again, he stopped. Inuyasha stood in the doorway growling. Hojo back up as Inuyasha helped Kagome off the floor. She finished packing her bag and she grabbed a few other bags as well. Inuyasha picked them up and Kagome grabbed her purse and jacket and she walked out of the manor. During the drive back, Kagome could Look Inuyasha in the eye, He had seen Hojo hit her, he know knew how weak she had gotten. When they arrived at the manor Sango gave Kagome the room closest to her and Miroku’s. Kagome was finally left alone. She sat on the floor and she unzipped one of the bags, She pulled out a picture and she smiled. It was a photo of her and Inuyasha, taken 3 years before. In the photo Inuyasha was holding Kagome bridal style and they were laughing. Kagome ran her fingers over the photo and she smiled. She set it on her dresser and she began to unpack the rest of her things. Once she was through she took a long hot bath and she changed into jeans, a T-shirt and flip-flops. She walked downstairs and she joined Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku in the sitting room. Kagome folded her hands in her lap and she sighed, "I know I have been turned, and I know what I am going to become, that also destroys any hopes I had for the future. But I’m not going to let it stop me." Inuyasha smiled, "Kagome what you are does not matter to us, you are alive and we have you back. That’s all we have really wanted."

The rest of the day was spent watching Kagome closely, She was starting to change, The first thing that changed was her eye, They were no longer chocolate brown, and they were now Iceberg blue. The following Day Kagome’s new Canines began to come in, when she smiled at Inuyasha, the Hanyou almost fell over. she was absolutely beautiful. Kagome and Inuyasha began to spend much more time together after that, in fact the two had nearly become inseparable. Sango stood by one afternoon smiling as she watched the two.

Kagome was running around the back yard with Inuyasha chasing after her. When he finally caught up to her, Kagome fell into the flowerbed pulling Inuyasha with her. The Hanyou laughed as he landed on top of the young woman. Sango felt it was best to leave them alone, So she walked inside and she shut the door. Inuyasha looked down at Kagome and he smiled, "How are you feeling Kagome?" The young woman smiled and she sighed "A little off but I think I’m getting better. It seems my miko powers will allow me to stay in the sunlight, so I wont become a complete child of the night." Inuyasha smiled and he gently ran his nail across her cheek, "That’s wonderful news…" Kagome found herself getting lost in Inuyasha’s eyes. Inuyasha slowly leaned in. he stopped and he smiled, "I guess we better go in." Kagome nodded and she went to sit up.

Inuyasha helped Kagome inside and he smiled at the others. They ate dinner in silence and then Kagome excused herself to her room. Once she was alone, she let out a happy sigh. She took a long bath and she sat on her bed, her thoughts went to Inuyasha. They had been friends since 7th grade and now Kagome found herself falling in love with him. She needed to tell him, Kagome stood and she began to walk to the door. She stopped as she began to feel lightheaded, She grabbed onto her nightstand as the room began to spin. Kagome fell to her knees and she began to feel sick. She crawled to the bathroom and she began to retch but nothing happened. Tears ran down Kagome’s face as she leaned into the wall. Something was happening, The change was almost complete but Kagome had never heard of it being this painful. Kagome weakly called out to anyone that could hear her…"In…. Inuyasha" She slid to the floor and Darkness took her over. When Inuyasha came in to bid her goodnight, he found Kagome lying on the bathroom floor with fever. He picked her up and the group raced to the hospital.

Inuyasha paced back and forth as they waited for the doctor. When the doctor finally came out Inuyasha was the first one to him. "How is she doing? What’s wrong with her?" The doctor sighed and he leaned into the wall, "Inuyasha this is not the first time Kagome has come to us. Her injuries from Hojo have ranged from a bloody nose all the way to a broken bone" Inuyasha growled and he leaned into the wall. The doctor kept his head down, "The bit from the vampire kept Kagome alive during her last fight with Hojo. But I’m afraid it is that very bite that is causing her this pain…Kagome is Dying Inuyasha."

Inuyasha slid to the floor and he began to breathe hard, "what about a cure…there has to be a cure for this" the doctor knelt down and he took Inuyasha by the shoulders. "Inuyasha there is a cure…. But the only person who has it or even knows how to get it…. Is your brother…" Inuyasha frowned and he slowly nodded. The group was finally allowed to see Kagome. After Sango and Miroku said their hello’s they left Inuyasha and Kagome alone. Inuyasha sat on the bed and he held Kagome’s hand in his. Kagome slowly opened her eyes and she gazed into Inuyasha’s.

Inuyasha held back his tears as he spoke, "I’m going to find the cure Kagome…I’m going to save you." Kagome smiled and she weakly squeezed his hand, "I know you will." Inuyasha leaned down and he gently Kissed Kagome’s lips. "When we get back I’m going to marry you…. Ill ask you properly but I want to know if you would become my mate." Kagome smiled and she slowly nodded, "Of course I will." Inuyasha kissed her gently and he smiled, "Wait for me Kagome…I will return to you promise."

Inuyasha stood and he walked to the door, He turned and he looked at Kagome one last time. He smiled and he walked around of the room…………
