The following afternoon Kagome stood in her bedroom trying to decide on what to wear to the festival. She finally decided on tight black pants, Black boots and a tight button up white shirt. She dressed and she walked over to her mirror. She brushed her hair and she smiled at her reflection. She turned around when the door to her room opened and she smiled brightly when she saw Inuyasha. Inuyasha smiled softly and he walked over to his mate. He wrapped his arms around her and he held her close, "You look really nice." Kagome smiled,

"Thanks"

She grabbed her jacket and she walked downstairs. Sango smiled when she saw Kagome and Inuyasha come down, "Come on you two. At this rate were going to arrive after they have stopped blooming." Kagome laughed and she pulled on her jacket. As they went to leave there was a knock on the door. Inuyasha raised an eyebrow and he stood closer to Kagome. Miroku opened the door and he stepped back. Kagome smiled brightly as Sesshomaru and Sakura walked into the manor. Sesshomaru smirked,

"I told you we would find you…it’s been a long time little brother."

Inuyasha smiled and he nodded. Sango wiped her eyes, "Oh can we go please…" Kagome laughed and she walked outside. She pulled her hat on and she grabbed Inuyasha’s hand. The walk to the festival was full of laughter. Sakura spoke of her two children, Ayako and Akiko and of how things changed once the group went back. Before they knew it they had arrived at the festival. The group split up and the couples went their separate ways.

Kagome smiled as she took Inuyasha’s hand in her own. She looked at the blossoms falling from the tree and she closed her eyes. Inuyasha smiled as he picked a Cherry Blossom from the tree and he placed it in Kagome’s hair.

"Now you look like a princess."

Kagome smiled softly, "And you Inuyasha are my Knight in shining armor." Inuyasha smiled and he pulled her close. They began to walk just enjoying each other’s company. Miroku stood behind Sango with his arms around her. Sango smiled as she leaned back and she looked at the beautiful trees. Sesshomaru and Sakura had seen the blossoms before so they stood on the lookout in case anything happened. At one point Sakura thought she saw Hojo. But she soon came up with the conclusion that her mind was playing games with her.

Hojo walked through the crowd searching for Kagome. She had left him and in doing so she had let loose a monster in him. In his mind, if he couldn’t have her…. Then no one could. That went double for Inuyasha. He kept walking through the endless crowds of people. Tonight he would end it all, he didn’t care who he hurt in the process. When he finally spotted them. He waited until the time was right.

Kagome let out a shudder and Inuyasha raised an eyebrow, "are you alright Kagome?" Kagome nodded,

"Yes I just…I have a bad feeling. I keep thinking Hojo will try something."

Inuyasha frowned and he held her close, "I won’t let any harm come to you. I promise." Inuyasha let out a sigh and Kagome turned around. "Inuyasha, is there something you’re not telling me. You have been a little off tonight." Inuyasha pulled back and he reached into his pocket.

"Well I was going to wait but tonight seems perfect."

He got on one knee and Kagome smiled as her eyes filled with tears. Inuyasha pulled out a velvet box and he opened it to reveal a small Diamond ring. "Kagome, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife and mate?" Kagome let out a sob and she smiled,

"Yes."

Inuyasha smiled brightly and he slid the ring on her finger. He held her close and he kissed her gently. When he broke the kiss, Kagome let out a squeal, "I’m going to tell the others." Inuyasha nodded and he laughed as she ran off to find Sango and the others. Kagome smiled when she found Sango. When Sango saw the bright smile on her friend’s face she knew Inuyasha had finally proposed. As Kagome spoke with Sango and Miroku. Hojo made his move. He walked up to Inuyasha and he smirked,

"She belongs to me Inuyasha."

Inuyasha turned around and he growled. Kagome heard the growl and her eyes went wide. As she broke into a dead run Sango and Miroku ran after her. Inuyasha bared his teeth as he spoke,

"She was never yours Hojo. I am going to be the one to protect her from now on."

Hojo laughed and he raised the gun. Inuyasha backed up and his eyes went wide. Hojo smirked, "I think not Inuyasha. You see Kagome has been mine since day one and I don’t like it when people touch my things."

Kagome saw the gun and she let out a scream. Inuyasha looked up in time to see Kagome running to him. She threw herself onto him as the gun went off. Inuyasha held her close and he closed his eyes. Hojo stepped back in shock. Inuyasha held up his and his eyes went wide when he saw the blood. He let out a scream when Kagome began to go limp. He gently laid her on the ground, when he saw the blood on the front of her shirt he couldn’t stop the tears. Sango and Miroku stood on the side in Shock. Sesshomaru and Sakura ran up as Kagome opened her eyes,

"In…Inuyasha."

Inuyasha let out a small sob and he placed his hand on her cheek.

"Don’t speak, save your energy."

Kagome tried to speak once more, she only succeeded in coughing up more blood. Inuyasha lifted her and he held her close,

"Oh god, no Kagome fight…I need you to fight for me."

Kagome looked at Inuyasha as blood trickled out of the side of her mouth, "I…I l…love…y...you" Her eyes closed and she slowly went limp. Inuyasha gently shook her,

"Kagome?"

He pulled her close and he let out a sob as he closed his eyes. Hojo backed up and he ran away from the crowd. Inuyasha laid Kagome down and he stood. The front of his shirt was completely covered in blood. He looked at his brother as a single tear ran down his cheek. He looked down at his fiancée and he closed his eyes. Blood now soaked the complete front of Kagome’s shirt, her hair was matted to her neck from it.

Inuyasha began to back up. Sesshomaru stepped forward but he stopped when Inuyasha let out a growl. As Sango knelt down next to Kagome, Inuyasha took off after Hojo.
