Wouldn't it be easier if there was a general disclaimer on the front page that stated that unless otherwise noted, all characters were the property of Rumiko Takahashi-san and that none of us profit from writing these stories?

Though it would seem so and there is a general disclaimer at the bottom of the website already, saying it in every fanfic is a requirement. I would rather be safe about it.

It does seem to be standard practice that everyone makes their own declaration since the site can't be personally responsible with what someone does with their fics elsewhere. I tend to put my disclaimers with each chapter, though I would think it would be acceptable to put it in the story summary or notes to cover the entire fic when dealing with multi-chaptered stories.
